Spinnup X Sundown Festival

Here at Spinnup, we are always looking to give our artists incredible opportunities, so that’s why this summer we partnered with massive dance and new music festival Sundown. Through the partnership, we ran a competition offering our artists the opportunity to open their main stage on both Saturday and Sunday.

All Spinnup artists had to do was either upload a brand new track or choose an existing Spinnup release and push it to the jury. After hundreds of entries and many days deliberating with our friends at Sundown, two incredible artists were picked.

On Saturday Brighton-born Freddie Long was the first Spinnup artist to open the main stage! Freddie delivered a unique sound of alt-indie pop, underpinned by a groove that references early Arctic Monkeys as much as it does James Brown and Jamiroquai. He is undoubtedly one of the most exciting independent rising stars of 2019. With only a handful of releases to date, this talented young writer and performer from Brighton is already generating a great deal of buzz and interest from audiences across the world and the industry.

24 hours later, London based rapper AyiTe stormed the stage with a set inspired by the likes of Kano, Pharrell, MF DOOM and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke. AyiTe is currently carving his own lane with his genre-bending sound.

The wordsmith experiments with elements of jazz, soul, electronica and subtle hints of grime, whilst captivating audiences with his smooth delivery and sharp, poetic lyricism. Backed by raw beats and refined, progressive production, he puts his own fresh spin on the rap genre with a nod to classic hip-hop of the ’90s and early ’00s.

A huge thank you to Sundown and both artists who put on a show to remember. Make sure to keep a lookout for more competitions and opportunities by following us on our socials – Facebook, Instagram and Twitter – and by signing up to our newsletters.
