The excitement surrounding even the mere mention of this week’s new video release at Spinnup HQ is actually tangible. It fills me with joy to present Devon: the newly signed 21-year-old Forest of Dean-born indie-pop star to keep your eye on.
Having began with Spinnup releasing a number of projects, the multi-instrumentalist takes inspiration from “anything and everything” including (but not limited to) Beck, The Neighbourhood and Twenty One Pilots. He debuted onto our radar earlier this year, later going on to play a successful run of festivals and shows including Live at Leeds, Truck, BBC Introducing etc.
It is his latest, I DONT WANT 2 B UR FRIEND, which has sent tongues wagging within Universal, leading him to sign a deal with UMG label UMOD and understandably garner the attention of BBC Radio 1 via Jack Saunders’ ‘Next Wave’. The punchy indie track (mixed by Tarek Musa), has been championed by tmrw who have premiered the release of the love-centric video on their website. Being classic in sound, the video follows suit by representing love in diverse and inclusive shots of couples, sewn together by a glittering guitar welding Bowie-esque Devon. Be sure to check out their blog piece HERE.
We are so proud of Devon and can’t wait to see what he does next. Be sure to support the Spinnup family and stream ‘I DONT WANT 2 B UR FRIEND’, watch the new video below and also check out his Instagram, Twitter and Facebook!
