What is Verve 2020?

Verve is an annual community arts festival that is organised by Year 2 students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Diploma in Arts Business Management.

This year, we celebrate 10 fantastic years of Verve and all of its dynamism and spirit of enthusiasm with the theme “Tenacity” — a play on the word ‘ten’. In light of COVID-19, we have decided to rethink, reimagine and adapt Verve into a virtual arts festival. What motivates all of us here in the diploma is knowing that the arts remain an essential source of comfort in such tough times. The virtual festival would also serve as means of uniting the community and providing solidarity, so as to persevere and overcome.

This year’s theme “Tenacity” could not be more fitting. The main objectives of Verve is to showcase everyday artistic expressions of living and learning from our community.

Do stay tuned to Verve Arts Festival 2020 happening from 17th December to 19th December!

How To Submit Your Demo To Verve Festival

1. Create your own Spinnup account!

Or if you already have one, log in as normal.

2. Create a single release

Once you’ve logged into your Spinnup account, click on “Create a new release” and select the release option “Single (1-2 Tracks)”.

3. Upload your single

Make sure that you only publish your own music and not recordings by other artists. For more info about that click here.

4. Add your track information

DO NOT write your artist name, or the name of any featuring artists, in the song title.

For the version please select “Original”.

If your track contains explicit lyrics, please select “Explicit Lyrics”.

5. Add your release information

Go to “Release Options” and enter your artist name.

Choose the genre of your music and the language in which you have labeled your song.

You can select to release your single on 17th December 2020.

6. Upload your cover art

Continue to “Cover Art Upload” and upload a square image that is at least 3000 × 3000 pixels in size.

It should only show the title of your song and your artist name. Further information is NOT allowed on the cover.

If you don’t have any artwork ready, then you can use one of the free designs we have created!

7. Review your order

This is the last step, and it’s really important you check all the information to make sure it’s correct.

As part of our competition you do not have to pay for the worldwide release of your single for the first year – all you need to do is use the code ‘GETHEARDVERVE’ (*SAVE IT NOW SO YOU DON’T FORGET*) at the checkout and you will not be charged. But as releases on Spinnup operate as a subscription, you will still need to enter your credit card information to renew your payment in a year’s time.

Remember, you keep all of the rights to your song and we’ll pay you 100% of the royalties collected.

8. Apply for Get Heard Through Tenacity!

This is the most important part. Once your release has been confirmed, you’ll get an email from Spinnup with a promo link of your release. Copy the promo link and submit it as your released song when filling in our GHTT! application sign-up form!

9. Done!

After completing steps 1 through 8, you’ve successfully applied for Get Heard Through Tenacity! The artist and team will listen to all of the songs submitted and then decide on the selected performers.

*This will be announced by 2nd December 2020.
