Spinnup Artists on Spotify Canvas

According to Spotify, tracks with a Canvas are 145% more likely to be shared on social media, listeners are more likely to keep streaming your song and you’re 20% more likely to be playlisted (plus it just looks super cool). Recently, Spotify teamed up with SoundBetter to create a marketplace for artists (basically having their own Fiverr.com or creative-commissions.com).

This means that Spotify Canvas now allows Spinnup artists to easily create and upload their own videos for their releases through the Spotify for Artists app. You can either make your own or use Spotify’s Marketplace to find people to help you make your own! If you use Spotify’s marketplace to create your Canvas video loops, here’s how Spotify describes the process.

How to Create Spotify Video Loops – Spotify Canvas

1. Log in to Spotify for Artists.

2. Go to Music.

3. Pick your Spinnup song and click ‘ADD CANVAS.’

4. Click the big + then upload your file.

5. Spotify Canvas will appear within one hour. The ‘Spotify for Artists’ app will help you edit 3-8 seconds for looping.

“If selecting a designer, artists must share details on the sonics of their track and their creative vision, which the designer then takes into account to create a custom Canvas tailored to meet their needs.” – Spotify

Tips for Creating Spotify Video Loops – Spotify Canvas

If making your own video, when choosing which clip to sample for your Spotify Canvas, the Spotify for Artists editor will let you crop the portion of the video you want to use. Here are some helpful tips to consider.

      • – Try not to use footage with talking or singing.
      • – Don’t use any clips with flashing effects or quick cuts.
      • – Remember, Canvas is a vertical video format with platform things like name and play button at the bottom of the screen; most of the movement should be in the upper half – of the screen (i.e. the safe area).
      • – Don’t put any text like artist name, track, or album names (we can already see this in the track information).
      • Keep on your brand and tell your story.
      • – Keep your Canvas fresh with new releases.
      • – Spotify offers continuous loop (seamless with no clear beginning or end), hard cut loops (clear edit points), and rebound loops (basically a boomerang) to play with – try them all.
      • – Remember your time limits – 3-8 seconds.
      • – You can change you canvas at any time so, think thematically.

Spotify will let you review the Canvas before it goes live. Make sure you do so you can check that the video loop doesn’t feature any harsh cuts or mistakes. Spotify is slowly making the Canvas upload feature available to more artists in a variety of countries but unfortunately, as of now, Canvas’s can’t be created in:

      • – Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova.
      • – Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates.
      • – India, Middle East & North Africa.

Once you access Canvas in your Spotify for Artists account, you’ll be able to track how many views each of your videos receive so you can analyse how they’re performing.
