Lockdown with Spinnup: Livestreams with a Difference

We’ve teamed up with our good friends at Notion to bring you an unrivalled selection of curated new music favourites.

Head to Notion’s Instagram (@notion), weeknights at 5pm, 20th April – 1st May 2020

Starting today, Lockdown With Spinnup will be introducing new artists to the world via a unique programme airing five days a week, Monday to Friday.

Featuring interviews by new music tastemaker Jamz Supernova, all the acts offer insight into their music and story so far, whilst delving into what the lockdown means for them, exploring some of the challenges, as well as positive impacts on creativity during this time. From there they launch into unique live performances presented by Jess Iszatt. It’s a perfect way to get to know some of the best rising talent breaking through the airwaves, and you can get to know them on a more personal level too.

Obviously, times are tough and times have drastically changed. With the usual ways we have discovered new talent becoming obsolete, we adapt and change to the times. Hence, Lockdown with Spinnup – bringing together key influencers in the musical sphere, a regular outlet for artists to introduce themselves to the world is being established.

Spinnup Manager Harrison Seward explains why these opportunities are so important for new artists, and in turn the industry at large… “This period of lockdown is particularly challenging for the new artist community who traditionally rely on performing live to showcase their work and build their audience. At Spinnup, we are committed to helping artists across the world develop their talent and so it was a natural progression for us to create an online stage for some of the most exciting unsigned talent to play on.

Presenter Jamz Supernova adds… “As an avid listener and supporter of new artists, I loved having the chance to get to know the Spinnup acts chosen to perform. Not only was I able to discover new artists myself, I was invited to find out more about their musical processes and conduct intimate conversations that allow for the fans to really get a sense of the person behind the music. Each artist is really unique and the way in which they cross promote and work with each other is inspiring! This feels like a real sneak preview of the names we’ll be raving about next year!

The Lockdown With Spinnup live series expands on Spinnup’s existing Creators United global initiative. A new hub designed for independent artists during this strange and isolating time. Full of information and resources the portal exists to help artists keep up momentum, by encouraging the creation and release of new music, whilst offering a united space to come together in.

Nina Usher, Spinnup International’s General Manager commented, “Spinnup has always been about helping independent artists no matter where they are, or what stage of their career they’re in. And right now, our artists need support more than ever. We launched Creators United as a global initiative to help artists during this time, and with live shows cancelled across the board we were keen to give our artists an online stage to showcase their talent. We’re excited to do this in the UK alongside Notion and help these artists reach a whole new audience with their music.”
