2018 saw Misunderstood blow the nation away as finalists on The X Factor, widely hailed as being one of the show’s most credible offerings since its existence. Having spent the last year writing new music, the duo are now set to return with a string of new releases planned for 2020. We are so happy to announce that they’re kicking things off here with their newest single ‘Ride’.
Ever since they met way back in 2008 Stephan and Jeffrey AKA Misunderstood have been writing and creating non-stop. Starting off making music in their native town of Greenwich, London, the pair quickly gained recognition in their local area and subsequently were playing up and down the country in various schools and venues. The duo gained national prominence after appearing on the 2018 season of The X Factor, where the British public fell in love with the duo and their self-penned songs they would perform on the show too.
Since the show Misunderstood have since gone from strength to strength, playing at Nile Rodgers BRIT Awards party, as well and appearing at British Summer Time in Hyde Park with Robbie Williams. Misunderstood are now ending the decade in fine style with the sleek and sexy new single- ‘Ride’.
‘Ride’ kicks off with atmospheric percussive chords, setting a sultry mood for the track from the get-go. A pulsing drum beat enters accompanied by the opening vocals, immediately drawing from the school of RnB pioneers such as Boyz II Men and Ginuwine. Throughout the track, the boys display their trademark vocal flourishes, effortlessly running up and down scales with soulful and emotional delivery. Throughout, the ‘afrobeats’ tinged production bumps the track up and down, conjuring images of the duo performing their signature moves while belting out the lyrics.
